A postdoctoral researcher in computer security at the department of computer science at Université de Sherbrooke, Thibaud Ecarot is interested in the protection of health data. He looks at collaboration challenges that stakeholders face when they share sensitive data. His research helps develop data protection systems that ensure the confidentiality and integrity of data for research purposes. It combines IT with regulation review and ethics codes.

Thibaud Ecarot focuses on data encryption in the field of IT security. His research integrates data governance issues across multiple organizations. Citizen and patient consent to the use of their data is also at the heart of his research. He puts in place systems that document the stakeholders’ actions when their organizations share health data.

In the field of computational intelligence, Thibaud Ecarot studies computer problems for which there are no effective algorithms. He models complex behaviors using fuzzy logic. This makes it possible to browse large information systems to detect threats. He designs online algorithms that respect firm and flexible nonlinear constraints to ensure data and infrastructure security.
